Through the Glass

We stand facing each other through the glass, two women whose lives intersect for a few fleeting moments. She seems curious, perhaps wondering why I’ve made this choice. I give her a moment to process whatever she’s feeling.

The moment passes.

Another moment passes.

I’m getting impatient. I paid for this, so she should do her job already. It’s not difficult, at least not in the physical sense. It’s just pushing a button. The machine takes care of the rest.

Finally, she nods and presses the button.

Zap!

The beam fires, disassembling my naked body and erasing me from existence.
